As far as I know, the Explorer came with both, an AWD drivetrain and a 4x4. Is the 4x4 a true 4x4 with a 2-speed case? Do you have the option to lock it in 4 HI or it's either open with auto lock or 4 lo?

Yes, the 4x4 version has a true 2 speed transfer case with the option of auto, or the ability to lock in 4 low and 4 high.

Oh okay, thanks. When it's in 4hi, is it locked at 50/50 or a centre limited slip varies torque?

It's an even split when locked in hi or low, auto mode is the only time the torque is varied by the RSC system.

There is no AWD I know the Adrenaline and Sport Tracs from Canada say AWD but its just marketing. There was a thread on here about that.
