'97 Eddie Bauer
I have the rear quarterpanel of my 97 Eddie Bauer torn out and am looking to get info on what wire is what... there is one main group i am having trouble with.. It's a plug and on one side of the plug is a black wire w/ green stripe and two (2) green wires with purple stripes both joined together.. then on the other side of the plug, a red wire and a yellow wire that go to the sub's amp. I am trying to locate the power and remote wires so I can send them to an aftermarket amp and sub. Am I looking at them or what? I have a DMM, might that help me?

Are you talking about a factory sub amp?
The wire colors going into and out of that amp is.
Black\light green-ground
Light grn\pink-battery
Dark green\pink-trigger
red\black- + audio in
brown\orange- neg audio in
Black\white- neg to sub
black\light green - + to sub

Yes, the factory sub amp. My system is the '97 Premium WITH THE DSP FEATURE. I know this for a fact:
- The wires in on one end are red, white, black (I suppose these are the signal in) - the wires in on the other end are red, yellow (I suppose power and ground or remote ??) - the wires out on the same end are black I believe with green stripes but it has some tape goo on it... (These wires go to the sub enclosure) - The red and yellow wires are the ones connected to the plug connected to the 2 green wires with purple stripes and the black wire with green stripe. I am confused here. I am going to go see if the wire labels you gave me match at all further down along the wire run, not right at the plug to the amp.. Please keep me posted, I need help with this install asap..

Ok heres the scoop.. i cut both the green wires with purple stripes before that strange plug.... dont know if this was a bad idea or not b/c now I cant turn on my stereo at all! with the car running, one of these wires measures to 14V, the other to about 2.5V. They both go to the same pin on this plug, the other pin being ground. I am thinkin this is some kind of remote turn-on for the system, but cant figure it out myself... I have been told elsewhere that the red and yellow wires are ignition and battery respectively, but these both go to the amp for the sub... any ideas?

You cut through the factory trigger on line which tells the amplifier to power up when you turn on the radio. You cut the electricity circuit, which is why your radio isn't working.

Ok, both of these cut wires go to the same pin at that plug. I cut the wires pretty close to that plug and am having difficulty gettin the wires back together individually. I have a butt connector on one wire at the plug, but dont have room for the other butt connector on the other wire. Can I take both of the other ends of those wires and put them both in the other end of the single butt connector since they both go to the same pin on the plug, or will this cause problems? Where did u get this info, as the diagrams would be very helpful.
