Welcome to the forum. Check out the lowered and street sections.

No matter what route you take (and good luck getting anything less than 2 inch drop without 'rigging something bad) you will lose ride quality and tire longevity, period.

I have air ride on my Charger, and I love it but the ride is different. Lowering is typically much worse, IMO. (unless you get the camber kit, and a high quality lowering kit)

welcome

if you want to go lower than 2-3 inches with just a torsion crank you will need new torsion keys, or a custom upper control arm and possably a coilover in the front suspension rather than the torsion bar. That is how alot of the ranger edge guys are doing it. The other option is allways to do a front clip swap.

Wouldn't recommend going any lower than 2" with 22's without bagging it, your ride quality will suffer big time. I recently did a 2" drop on mine by piecing parts together. With a 2" drop mine actually rides a little better than it did before. If you want a parts list I can get it for you.

thank .. if you could list them it would be great......

2" drop parts list...

This is the list of parts that I'm running right now...

Lowering keyways: Product number Key-FR98DROP...$49.00
Airbagit.com

Bumpstops: Energy Suspension Part # 9-91023 (2 per pack and you need 2 packs) $8.99ea. Jegs.com

Shocks: Nitro Slammers $42.02ea for the fronts (call and they will make them custom for your 2" drop) Doetsch-shocks.com

Alignment cams: Ingalls Part # IEC-29000 $25.39ea (you need 2)
Summitracing.com

2" lowering block kit: Part # DJM-LBZLK $28.95
Summitracing.com

Couple things to note:
You don't need to change your shocks in the rear because the mounting points don't change. (I do reccommend you change them out for a better ride though. I plan to change mine out soon as I have 59k on mine now).

The alignment cam kit I have listed is a kit alot of people on this site use and one I found after the fact. I went to my local parts store and just bought a cam kit that just came with 4 adjustment cams. The Summit kit includes bolts. I paid $40.00 for my kit and have had 0 problems with getting it aligned.....and I didn't have to remove the bolt, just the nut and cam on the end.

The DJM lowering blocks come with alluminium blocks. Although I haven't had any problems with them I do plan to change them to steel ones at a later date (just for piece of mind).

And finally the bumpstops...The rear went right in the rear holes where the old bumpstops came out. In the front however the factort holes are to small. My simple fix was to remove the factory bumpstop and mount my new ones on the lower control arm where the old one made contact...just had to drill a couple holes.

Make sure you get an alignment as soon as your done...Hope this helps.
If I left anything out or someone has a better way to go feel free to chime in.

Later I'll be adding a larger Addco swaybar to the rear, soon as I find a good price on it.....Probably Summit or Jegs.

If anybody is intrested, this is the sway bar I will be getting:

1" Sway bar: ADDCO Part # ACO-633 $168.95
Summitracing.com

is this set up for a thrid gen.. mine is a 02 v8 independent suspen

my bad....I thought it was for a 2nd gen,:(

thanks for taking the time... does / has anyone dropped their thrid gen and managed to keep a good quality ride

1.6 is the lowest I've seen.

Can someone put links to their lowered Xplorers??? I have a 96 Explorer Eddie Bauer V8 AWD....

would it be more difficult, due to the awd ???

Thanks,

Same as the parts that I have listed above...Don't go any lower than 2 or you might bind your cv joints. If you have any questions pm me.

does any one knoiw if the ground force lowering kit for the thrid gens is just the coils/springs... or do they come with somthing else eg: shocks..

i know.. just look it up at their site.. but before i buy just wanted to see if i got the right ones
