I Was hauling some tile in my explorer and was wondering what the max payload is for an explorer sport. I loaded the tile in and it drove fine. I got home and looked up the max load, and it was like 900lbs. I put in about 1500lbs! Yikes! I hope I didn't yield my leaf springs. Does anyone know the true max payload for an explorer sport.

Take 10% of your max towing capacity, that's probably it. I don't think there's a listed number as explorers are SUVs and don't tend to have heavy payloads. If your axle is straight, and it drove fine then I'd say you're good. I think 1,500 lbs is more along the lines of a 1/2 ton truck. Not a 1/4 ton (ranger)

I have pushed close to 1000lbs of grain in one of mine once, and it had no problems during or after, but not suggestible, LOL!
