Have anyone tried these shocks on a 95+ Explorer and what ones are best 3000s or 5000s, these are the most available aftermarket shocks in the Uk (for Explorers anyway).

Just looking for a bit of advice.:)

I don't know if Pro Comp has fixed the problem yet, but I bought a set of the 3000's about 6 months ago, and they didn't fit the front properly, so I sent them back (I have the Gabriel's now. The Bilsteins are also very good shocks, but pricey). The problem was that the shock mount on the lower control arm positions the shock fairly close to the axle shaft, and you need a shock with a long narrow shaft on it to clear the axle. the Pro Comps did not have that shaft at the time, and they hit the axle. I talked to the company at the time, and they were working on a new shock to solve the problem, but I don't know if it is on the market yet.

I am running the 3000s on the back of mine, but I ran into the same problem with the front ones, so I am still running the stock ones right now. I'm not going to replace the fronts, because I am putting the Trailmaster 4" lift on in the spring, so I wll be replacing all the shocks anyway.

UPDATE

EXPLORER PRO COMP have now redesigned the front shocks, I got a set of ES9000s and the difference is like night and day.
