2015 explorer limited 3.5
Hello,
My wife has a 2015 explorer limited, the other day I decided it would be a good idea to use the child locks in the back (we have a 3yo back there). The other day I went to turn them back off and the child lock was still on. Has anyone else came across this? Is there a good fix for this?

Thanks in advance!

Are both doors affected? Are you sure that you turned the dial fully upright?

I haven’t check both back doors, I’m concerned if I do then the other side will have the same issue. I’m 100% sure I turned the key fully upright.

Maybe try setting it to lock and then unlock again to see if that makes a difference.

Maybe?

Did you find a solution for this? I have the same issue.
I have a 2014 explorer limited, a few days ago I tried out the child locks in the back because my 2 year old has learned to pull the handle to open the door. I determined that it is not worth the hassle and turned them off. The driver side rear door disengaged and is now full operational but the passenger side rear door won't disengage the child lock, the mechanism turns and sounds like it clicks but it does not turn the child lock off so now I am stuck. Anyone know how to fix this? I have tried locking and unlocking multiple times to see if thats it but no luck.

Thank you!!!!

FYI, the member you quoted was last seen here on May 27, 2022 so may not be following the thread any longer. Perhaps another member has some suggestions to resolve the issue. Is it happening on both rear doors?

it is only happening on the passenger side rear door. I am wondering if it somehow disconnected inside the door panel?

When it "clicks" is that the same sound you hear on the driver's side rear door?

yes it seems to be the same sound. I am wondering if I get the door panel off if I can see if its broken or disconnected somehow

Any luck I just picked up a 2016 limited and same issue but I noticed that the lock indicator does not fully orient up and down like the other door.

Is there a way to try to get lubricant in there or do you think it may be another issue. Perhaps they haven't been used.
