I'm trying to find a source for some rear fog lamps for a '97 Explorer. These are standard on '95 through '01 European Explorers, but I'm having a tough time finding someone that will sell to me and ship to the States (there's one on eBay, but the seller won't even respond to my inquiries). Anyone have one (or better, a set) they would be willing to sell & ship over here, or have a lead on a good recycler that may help me? Many thanks for any help!

Hey Buddy,

I'm headed to the States in the Summer, if I can help you out, I'd be more than happy to as I could bring them with me and then post out to you domestic mail. Not sure if you can wait that long though.

Always happy to help if I can.

Cant help on the sourcing but i'm in the UK and flying out to the US first week in April, more than happy to accept delivery here in the UK if you find some and bring them over and ship them for you! I'll even be in Denver the week after!

Denver is about 10 minutes from me, that would be great!!

I'll kick up my internet searches to see if I can source them, and see if I can purchase them and delivered within the UK. Thanks so much to both of you for the offers. Hopefully I can find these lights! I have been checking on carsite.co.uk and a couple like it, but no luck yet... I was behind an Audi in a blinding snowstorm last weekend in the mountains, and the foglight on his A6 was the only part of his car I could see when a heavy wind whipped up the snow. With three little ones in my old Explorer, this seems like a must-have to me...

Yeh, i saw you were in Littleton, i have family in Greeley! I may have to mail them, not sure whats going on family wise when im there but if i could meet up i would for sure, just PM me if you need any more info or you find any. You could just buy pair of universal bolt on fogs and bolt then under the bumper(fender:) these are more or less the same as the ford ones! and wire then to a switch! maybe something like these that are pretty much the same!!:

Maybe ChrisQ on the Forum can help? He breaks UK Explorers.

He might have the parts you need and you can be sure they will be good quality parts.

Greeley is quite a bit north for sure!! I considered putting a set under the bumper, but they would never survive when I takee the truck offroad I'm afraid. My rear bumper actually already has the giant holes for the factory European fog lamps, but in the States they put reflectors in there instead of genuine light housings, so I can't just tack in a lightbulb. I have found several auto breakers in the UK, and hopefully one will reply with what I need!

I just saw him post that he was back online. :) I didn't realize he was a breaker; I will hit him up immediately, thanks for the hint!

Yeh im flying into DEN and will be there for a day but not sure what day yet!
I get ya on the lights :) from memory, i'll look tomorrow, the ones on ebay are more or less the same as the ones that are on the explorer! they are not built in just drilled and mounted to be ion that gap i think! so those would fit im pretty sure, but i'll check

I believe I'm running into a sourcing problem, where I am asking for a part from a bumper and most sources want to sell the whole bumper. That would be hard to fit in the overhead on a plane, so I'm still looking over the UK boneyards (breaker yards I think you call them?) to see what I can find. Gotta be an Explorer in a junkyard with a bad bumper but good fogs...

Hey mickey
try some of these
ebay uk breaking explorers

I saw one of them is a US car specialist

Replied to your PM Mickey.

How is your search going Buddy?

I thought I had a set - I found a fellow on eBay that had them, and actually sold me the set, to be shipped to FCAT just before he left for his trip to the States. A few days after the breaker accepted my money, he replied that he'd broken the fogs when removing them, so I was out of luck. Money refunded, so I'm OK there, but no fogs. I've found two other breakers on eBay with the fogs, but aren't willing to ship them to me. Would have been nice to have them yesterday, it was VERY snowy and foggy coming out of the mountains! I continue to search tho, have found there are a number of breakers in Germany with these fogs, but shipping from there is pushing $100! My search continues...

I've looked into a couple of generic routes, but none of them look like they belong on the truck. I really want to keep the spirit of the truck intact, and the stock fogs definatley look like they belong there, so that's what I'm chasing. Thanks for the thought tho.

The factory fogs will look pretty sweet.

Good luck with the hunt. :salute:
