91 ranger stx 4.0 auto 4x4. 136k relivant mods,cone filter,no cats,2.5'' ex.fullbore mufflerand duals. problem has existed for 5 years.at start up must crank 3 to 5 sec till eng. starts,have never been able to just bump key and go.if you do bump or hold 1 sec or so it poots out the air filter and some times blows the vac. lines off.eng runs real strong and has never failed to start.every once in a while the eng kicks back against the starter like the timing went advanced for a sec. retry and it fires right off.also pings on cruise or light accel at times.mid grade fuel takes care of this.had a modultor sucking fluid for about 6 mo. before i caught that.repairs,mass unit replaced and clean periodicy,plugs,wires,pcv,air filter-cone type with no air box,clean t-plates and iac and relearn idle,olf every 3000-no usage,twin batteries 1100 cca [to run the winches],all cables are 00 gauge,new starter-the windup kind,tps,map,coolant sensor,even did the power chip [the old resistor in the coolant sensor trick].alternator as well, sea foam the eng twice a year,maybe need something stronger,,,,,,,,,,i just dont get it thinking like maybe a crank sensor,intake gasket,updated pcm,ing. switch.motor has good cranking speed and always hits and pulls strong it just would be nice to bump and run thanks in advance pulling my hair in ky. aka TURBO
