Ok, I have only a few hundred miles before my warrany is over. I hadn't planned on getting one of those extended warranties, but just wanted to get other's input. Any good or bad experiences or just plain suggestions. Thanks!

ive had an extended warranty on both of my explorers. on my first explorer, it came in handy a lot. my transfer case needed to be replaced and some other things that would have been pretty pricy. on my new explorer (my 98) i havent had to use it yet and ive already got 27,000 miles, but thats a goos thing i guess. its just an insurance policy. personally, on every vehicle i ever buy new i will always get the extended warranty. to me its worth it. its up to you. how much is it? i dont even remember how much mine was. mine covers me up to 5 year/75k.

I sure ued the full use of mine. Paid $1,300 for it. Used up $2,100 so far.

BUY IT!!!!

Having the extended warranty really saved my A$$. The transmission went out on my 93 SHO. It was going to cost $2100 to get a brand new transmission put in, however nobody in the US had a transmission and Ford was not releasing any (for unknown reason). So they completely rebuilt the old transmission, the only reused part of the old transmission was the outer case. To make a long story shorter between parts and labor it would have cost me $7300, all I paid was the $50 deductible. Like Tbomb said it’s a insurance policy, you hope you never have to use it but when you need it, your damn glad you’ve got it. The one i've got on my X is for 6yrs or 100,000 miles and I paid around $1400

thanks folks..
i think it would be $1200 or close to that. i believe that would be the 3 additional years. my problem is that i have had my x just over 1.5 years, so that warranty is only going to last a year and half or so based on the mileage. i may go ahead and do it now though. i'd hate for my transmission to go haywire at 36,001 miles!
