Exterior Trim

Hey y'all! I'm getting prepped to repaint my 2001 Explorer XLT's exterior trims. Now does anyone know the proper way to take these things off? Idon't want to damage them

most likely just unscrew any exposed screws, pull out any push/xmas tree clips, then pull the panels away from eachother, some may have metal clips behind then that you just pull on and they pop off, at least thats how the panels are held on on my 91. i doubt it changed too much since then.

If you mean exterior trim around the fenders and such, it's all held in with christmas tree clips.
Just get in behind them and push them out. Be sure to buy some extras, cause after being on for so long, I can guarantee that you'll break a few.

Thanks for the tips y'all. I got them off finally! and yeah, I think I may need to buy all new ones!
