Hey, I'm wanting the install the transmission filter I got from Summit. Unfortunately I cannot figure out which line is the "in" and which is "out". My X is a 97 SOHC 4WD sport.

Looking at my X from the front, I see the transmission radiator through the grill. There are the in and out hoses that connect to the bottom of the radiator and connect to the metal hoses. The hose on the left appears to go back to the TRANSMISSION. The hose on the right appears to go up and into the main radiator. So my question is, which hose coming from the transmission radiator is the "IN" and which is the "OUT"? I will connect the "OUT" hose to the input of the filter and the output filter hose to the metal hose.

Can anyone help me out? I tried feeling the hoses after driving, but they both feel equally hot.

Disconnect each line and put a hose on each, put into a suitable container, crank the truck and see which lines flows ATF.

Good luck.....

Thanks for the advice ALDIVE. I will try this once I get the drill I need (mine's not working correctly...and currently lost) to mount the filter bracket.

I've never really checked out my tranny becuase the X-Fer case and driveshaft are in the way. How do I add the additional fluid once the filter is mounted? Do I need a pump to be able to get the fluid into it?

TIA!

You add the fluid through the transmission dip stick tube.
