i have a 90 f 150. it starts up and runs good but when i stop somewhere after it warms up it will not start again. i have to wait for it to cxool down. what would cause this? any info. would be sweet!!! thanks

I had a similar problem with my 89 Ranger back a few years ago. It would start and run fine when cold but if you drove a few miles and shut it off it would refuse to start again. At first it was intermittent but I had to get towed once or twice when it refused to start at all.

It turned out to be a bad coil. The resistance would go way up when it was hot. I finally was able to figure it out when it stopped working altogether.

If I were you, I would carry around an ohmmeter so that the next time it happens, you can test the resistance of the coil. Compare against what the resistance should be.

Good luck

thanks ill try that.
