Right now im in the process of fabbing up some front spring hangers for my sas that im in the middle of. Im pretty sure I have an idea in mind of how I want to do it. But if anyone had any pictures of a leaf sprung sas they did on their ex/ranger they could show me it would be more than helpful!

thanks in advance!

p.s. - i've done a search and all i can really come up with is Yomie's. which I like. Just wanting more!

Also look @ snowborad88's SAS thread.

wow, you butchered that. :D

I just used some 3x3 1/8 wall box tube (I believe, whatever size your springs fit inside of tight)

We cut off one side and welded a piece on the back side so it was a cube but missing 2 side. Works well, fast and easy. but if your doing rear shackles sections design may work/ look better.

You have to show the bling finished product! :D

Ahaha sorry, I'm not even supposed to be surfing the net when Im at work so I try to type everything as fast as possible.

thanks guys. another question... will the leaf springs sit a little wider than the frame rails in the front?

Yes. You can see just how much wider on my crossmember. The notches are for the frame rails...

At least on my waggy.

yeah, thats what i thought. also. i just looked at snowboarders thread and he used the shackles up front. which would be better for more acticulation and handling... shackles up front or on the back of the springs? or would it even matter?

Oh, it matters. Yes, mine is very flexy and performs very well (once I work out the bugs) However, mine dosent see daily driving just short bits here and there. If it were a daily driver I would go shackles in rear would make a smoother ride.

It also would definatly need a trac bar.

My springs are outboarded slightly as well, maybe 1.5" per side?

alright. thanks! Im going to stick with my original plan by putting them in the back then since I willbe driving it alot.

I've got a pretty good idea about how I want to fab up my hangers. I'll work on it this weekend and start to get some pictures posted of work done so far!

You probably already know this but just to make sure: take the measurement of how far apart the leaf springs are at the axle, not at the chassis. Cauz you can always move them outboard or inboard at the chassis end but position is sometimes restricted at the axle.

actually i hadnt thought about that. but i'll deffinetly keep that in mind.
im off today and tomorrow so I hope to get some work done.
