i have gotten several "factory" CDs from ebay. these CDs though do not show exploded views or part numbers. when i went to ford, i realize they use a much better program called CPD 2000. they printed out for me full exploded views showing every nut and bolt with part numbers. does anyone know where to get this program? why does everyone call these other CDs "factory" if they are not?

I think the difference is that the CDs on Ebay are a copy of the Factory Service Manual, and the one you see at the dealership is the Parts Illustration program, which is used for locating parts but does not include any repair information.

It would be nice to own both, but I haven't seen any source on Ebay selling the Parts Illustration. I imagine that this is controlled by Ford and only offered to dealerships.

yes, this makes sense. i think it is only a parts catalog. i searched everywhere and cant seem to find it. my problem is, i need to so some research on part numbers so that i can order a bunch of parts. but when i went to the parts guy and asked him to print me out a few exploded diagrams, he said "this isnt a library". i hate trying to deal with the parts guys, plus they dont know what they are talking about often. does anyone know where i can get this parts manual? someone who works at ford want to burn me a copy or just print out about 4 diagrams for me?

one of my reasons for wanting to examine the part numbers, is to see if explorers with the OHV use the same clutch parts as the '01+ SOHC explorers, since they do use slightly different manual transmissions.

So go back to the parts guy and make him look up all the information for you, the customer. Where else did he expect you to find the part numbers for items that you, the customer wanted to buy? Maybe try another dealer? Now, if you go in and make the parts guy spend 30 minutes looking up part numbers and then you walk out with a handfull of printouts, but no parts, don't be surprised if you get the cold shoulder the next time you walk in.
