Hey everyone
I got a 96 explorer with a 5.0. Now the issue I'm having is the hose from the water pump to oil cooler keeps leaking antifreeze on me I've double clamped it on each side and it still leaks I was wondering if there is a way to relocate the oil filter and run one hose from the water pump to the radiator.

Have you tried replacing the hoses to/from the oil cooler?? If they are original they might be weeping thru the hose itself. Good luck.

Yea I've done that as well

98-1/2 and later have no oil cooler and use a single hose. You can probably find the non-cooled style filter adapter at junkyards.

Definitely the route to go. That short elbow hose is no longer available from Ford and the aftermarket ones don't have the correct bend. Makes it a bear to replace.

You can put a layer of RTV on the water pump neck. On the neck, not inside the hose.
Rub it on, fit the hose then let it partly set then do up the clamp.

Ok thanks guys I will try tho ideas as a temporary fix untill I can locate the parts I need

Any luck? I have a 98 Mountineer where the oil cooler assembly is leaking at the block. I'm considering either the oil filter relocation route or going to the junk yard.

I haven't been able to locate one yet but I'm still looking the 2wd V8s are hard to find up here in North Dokata
