Hi, I'm new to the board and the world of explorer ownership. I have a 97 explorer sport with the OHV, 2wd, 5spd. I would like to add remote keyless, and if possible go the factory route, I don't want to mess with negative ground locking systems. I looked inside the rear drivers side panel in front of the jack but didn't see the remote receiving unit. If I were to buy this unit Linky
would it be plug and play with a new remote? or are there more steps involved? I'm sorry if this question is a repeat, but I searched hard and came up with nothing on this particular issue. thanks in advance for the help for an Ex newbie.

anybody got any hints for me?

I have remote keyless and find that I use the keypad more then the fob. The fob is big and bulky, and harder to fiddle with when your hands are full. It's easier to get a finger free to press the door keys, than to tumble the fob in your hand and hunt for the right button. Just my $.02

I dont' have the keypad on the doors though, and my other car has remote keyless, which i love. That's why I was wondering if I added this unit if it would work or not.

I do think that if all the wireing is there then you would be able to just plug and play. Do a search, I do recall reading about this a while ago.
