factory repair manual

A friend has suggested I hunt down and aquire the factory repair manual for my Explorer. He says without question it is the best resource available for diagnosing and fixing most any issue I would have. He says he has one for his Mustang and his father has one for his Bronco and it is far and away better than anything he has ever used such as the Chilton and Haynes manuals. Anyone out there have the factory manual for their Explorer and could comment on it one way or another?

Many members here, including myself, use the Ford Service Manuals that you find on eBay. They are FAR superior to a Haynes or Chiltons manual.

i have the toyota manual from toyota and it costs $100 at the dealer.... it actually has pictures of rebuilding an auto tranny and what to torque everything too... the haynes/chiltons i have is not that detailed..... the haynes are good enough, but if you plan on doing serious stuff, get the real shop manual, quite more expensive, but cheaper than paying a mechanic....

Robb...I have a 1996 Explorer 5.0 v8. I have been looking at Helm Inc and Ebay for a service manual or cd. Any suggestions on who you would order from on Ebay?

I to would be interested in a cd manual for a 96 4.0 4x4.I had one for my 94 and it was great,I'm having problems finding one for my 96 though.If anyone knows where I could find one I'd be greatful.THANKS

you can by cd manuals on ebay i bought the ford truck service manual or 93-94 for $10
