Hey guys
I bought a 97 ex 4 door 4.0 from a coworker he attempted the torsion twist lift on the front and ended up breaking a cv shaft and messing up the shock while off roading I was wondering if any knows the factory ride height fromm the ground to the top of the wheel well so I can lower it so I dont have this problem
when I start driving it. I would perfer millimeter for the measurement if at all possible

Thanks everyone

Why can't i find the numbers of a typical hub center to fender like every other vehicle I've looked up a stock ride height for. That totaly eliminates the tire/rim size variable.

Center of the hub is not accessible for measurement clearly. Fender can be bend.
The only way to eliminate the wheel/tire size is how was described in the above link:
Ride Height
4x4
alignment check = (3.58 - 4.37 in)
new parts = (4.33 - 4.56 in)
AWD
alignment check = (3.58 - 4.37 in)
new parts = (4.33 - 4.56 in)
4x4 w/Automatic Ride Control
alignment check = (2.67-3.54 in)
new parts = (3.26-3.5 in)

Is it the same geometry for a 2wd? No numbers are listed for it, i just picked up an explorer this past weekend and it looks like it might sit slightly higher in the front than the rear, could just have larger wheel openings up front? front rides super stiff. I know if you crank the bars to much on a gm it firms it up alot and im trying to figure out if these work the same way. crawling under there for a quick measure i show about 3.75in on a 2wd v8

When raising the front of any vehicle, by turning the existing torsion bar up, you will stiffen the spring rate (it's pre-torsioned more). It will ride harsher but higher.
I don't have the numbers for a 2WD, I am not the source of those great diagrams. But I would expect the 2WD to be similar with 4x4/AWD (without the air ride).

I was guessing that too when it fell within the 4wd specs on my measurement.

I know cranking the bars will stiffen it up which it appears nothing has been done to these. I had a 88 chevy that was cranked to the droop stops when i got it that didn't ride rhis rough though. Guess my search continues for the cause
