I just got my 92 Explorer back from the shop and am in the process of some mods I am building custom front and rear Pre-Runner bumbers, custom nurf bars and a custom tire mount in the rear cargo area. I am considering the Fiberglass baja front fenders, and would like any info I can get on them. And what you thought of them.

Thanks

I cant really help you out with specific parts but a good thing about fiberglass is that it is easy to fix if you break it. as far as quality of the new parts if you think they are to thin you could just add some fiberglass to the back of them to stiffen them up. if you want to add a water crossing raised air filter deal the fiberglass would be very easy to cut and clean up and if you took it off later on it would be easy to patch and still look good. hope this helped you out some.

Thanks

But what I am asking is how good were the ones people got, how much prep work did they take to install, were they worth the $250?

How much work was it to modify them so retain the stock iner fender?

I don't have mine yet - I'm waiting on all my goodies to be installed/built/modified. A lot of guys from the forum buy from Perry's Fab N Fiber. His site is http://www.perrysfabnfiber.com I've been told that he gives a slight discount to members of this site, but I'm not sure, ask around some more on the site. He's got front and rear fenders. The front fenders are available with a kit that updates the body style to the '98 body. I think he's also got hoods - at least for the updated body. I'll probably be buying from him, I hear nothing but good things. I'd suggest dropping fenderguy a private message, he's got Perry's fenders, and he can tell you more. He's running a 35 with 4 inches of lift. I'd love to hear your suspension ideas too. If you could - post 'em in this thread http://208.38.138.31/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30275&pagenumber=1 If you need ideas, that one's a great place to find 'em too. I don't know how to retain the inner fender, I intend to add just some plastic to protect the engine compartment a little, not really an inner fender. As far as are they worth it? For me, absolutely. The safety of lower CoG because of less lift, without sacrificing the ground clearance from big tires is plenty worth it to me. :smoke:
