After a lengthy, drawn out repair/warranty job, my Explorer has new life in it in the form of a new, "Remanufactured" 4.0L V-6 engine from Ford. The old motor with the failed, rear timing chain needed replacing. The Ford Reman engine comes with ALL NEW internal engine block parts, new gaskets and seals, a new water pump, t-stat & housing, harmonic balancer, valve covers, oil and filter change and spark plugs etc. The coolant and AC evacuation/ re-charge fall under the engine removal and installation/labor charge. The old intake manifold, fuel injectors and air intake, alternator, starter, flywheel, AC compressor and power steering pump are re-used and bolted up to the new engine, as long as they are still in good condition and useable. Also, new studs are installed for the exhaust manifolds. I had a new, reman aftermarket "Starter" installed just as preventive maintenance, since it was cheaper and easier to do with the motor out of the vehicle. I also had the fuel filter changed, which came with a bottle Castle fuel injector cleaner added to the gas tank. The Reman engine also comes with a 3 year, unlimited mileage, parts and labor warranty. If anyone has any questions about the reman motor, just ask. What a difference between a new motor versus an older, nearly 100K motor.
