That regulator looks like a modified SCUBA regulator :D
AHhh and GPS I gotta get the mount for my IPAQ to run the GPS in the X

Good idea somewhere my wife has her own tank that would be a heck of a use for it ;)

The Tank is awesome. The regulator is off a old set up the valve is set at 140psi +- for safety that is standard on all dive regs. the High side is great for showing the total tank pressure.

Alto, (if I might post off-topic) I notice you have the same gas pedal cover I do...but...
how did you get the pedal cover to STAY on the pedal? Mine kept falling off. I'm considering drilling the pedal and bolting it on. How does yours stay on?

Anyone notice the lable on the Coke can?
CocaCola Light!

Nice cargo box. One of these days I need to get off my butt and finish some of my projects.

Rhett- I installed it normally of course being a Aircraft Mechanic I always give it that 1 extra turn.

When you think it is tight enough give it one more. That is the only thing I did.

Nice Coke Light its the Saudi version on Diet Coke.

Thanks for all of the feed back. My wife thinks I'm nuts for getting excited about things I've done to the truck. But its my outlet she lets me enjoy.

I know that she gets a kick out of hearing people say " I wonder what Alto is going to do to his Truck next". Also hearing the kids talk " If I could have any vehicle on this compound I would want Alto's. I still find it funny that I've got a Truck that everyone wishes they had. It feels pretty Cool. My work has paid off.

She is nuts! Looks like some great additions!

Mounted the CB

I had to mount it so it could be removed & installed quickly hence the QD's. The Police over here don't like people having them so it stays out until needed.

First off i want to say i really like your truck. Hey Alto being that you are in the military. I was wondering if you had them pay for the shipping of your truck over there when you moved for perm duty station or did you buy it over there? The reason i ask is because i am going to be moving to NSA Bahrain here soon for a perm duty station of 2 years. So i was wondering what you had done. I dont think i will ship my X i got now over being that it is a streeter (not a sander), but i would like to weigh all options and get a better understanding of what my options would be. I sure dontwant to be just stranded in the sand without a decent truck to get me around. Sorry to steal your thread. I just wanted to ask you that question real quick, being that you are pretty close to where will be going soon. Thanks.

Sorry Rocket,

I've been out of the Air Force for about 5+ years. I work over here as a Crew Chief Instructor/Trainer on the F-15S trying to teach them how to maintain the jets that Saudi bought.

I've got a few friends over in Bahrain. I'll ask, but you really don't need to get a car for here. If you get the urge call me. Or you could just rent one. For a price I may let you rent mine! ha ha ha

Yeah from what i hear a bicycle would be the best mode of transportaion around there. It is pretty small. It is ok. Cannot be any smaller than Diego Garcia. Now that place is tiny. Makes Guam look like a continent. lol. Hey if you rates are good i just might think of renting your X while i am there. Hey you got that extra $5 crash insurance they all got???? lol. :D

I know that some of the perminant party members have cars. Check with MadMike I think he is still in Bahrain. He might be able to help more.

What is the purpose of the sand ladder?

When running in the Sand you will get stuck. Not will I, or might I. You will.

The Sand Ladders have helped to get me out at least 15 times.
If I'm stuck, before I high center I'll through a sand ladder in front of all the tires. The tires catch on the ladder lifting the truck on top or driving on top of the ladder, allowing you some distance to get some speed and keep the truck moving. It's kind of like portable Snow Shoe.

I've used my Sand ladders alot. I've been in the middle of the desert with friends. There have been times when we have Dug, Hi-Lifted and used Sand Ladders only to move 20 feet in a hour that is of course with him getting stuck trying to free me. Get one unstuck first then work on the other.

There are places where the sand is so soft you step out of the truck and your 6 inches in sand. The Sand in the Desert here has been blowing around for 1000's of years. The sand is smooth. Saudi Arabia can't even use most of the desert sand to build with. Its kind of like when you paint your truck. The surface must be rough or the paint wont stick. The sand here is very soft and smooth so getting stuck is always happening.

I've learned that one must self recover before you can help to get a friend unstuck. Last Feb we where about 40 miles from the Yemen Border. My friend got stuck, couldn't get my Explorer with in 150 feet of him. We have a 100 foot snatch strap but still had to get him 50 feet closer.

120+Temperatures makes for some Desert fun.

so then once you get going again how do you stop for the ladders? You tie a string to them and drag them along?:D

Thanks for the info. They would come in handy out at Glamis. Where did you buy them from and how much? Also, i was looking through your pics and first, beautiful rig. Secondly, did you modify your hitch to lift it 3 inches or is it in the stock location? i cant really tell from the pics.

Randy
