2001 Explorer Sport
I have been looking all over the place for something I wanted to drive. I am a BIG Bronco II fan, but those are getting hard to find in good shape.

I scored myself a One-owner 2001 Sport 4x4. The carfax was awesome and I found all of the original paperwork showing the original owner's name and info. After some research, I have found that she is 59 years old and was a STICKLER for maintenance. It has 131k on the clock, white face gauge cluster and a factory Pioneer 6 disc in-dash sound system that THUMPS! (This may be standard equipment for all I know) The only flaw on the entire truck is a small worn hole in the vinyl on the console lid. Otherwise, it still looks factory fresh... even down to the un-stained factory floor mats.

I scored it for $3600.00. Now I have to find a brush guard, tow hitch and some other goodies. The rear needs to come up an inch or so. It looks like it is sagging... No prob! I know where to get lift blocks!

And my first "mod"...

Nice ride, I saw a clean BII at the junk yard today. I wonder why they let them go. Have fun with your new toy.

Thanks for the welcome. It does look new inside and out. The only sign of wear is a worn through spot in the vinyl cover over the console lid. It doesn't seem that it will be too hard to re-cover it.

So now here is my dilemma... I was looking at bull bars and step tubes on the Internet, and I have found that the explorer sport is a totally different body style than the regular 4 door variety. The gen II body style apparently didn't come out until 2002. Even then, it looks different than the sport/sport trac front end... So then, when I orde a bull bar, what other models are compatible? Do I order one for a sport trac? The place I have been looking doesn't list anything for a sport.

Something else that I thought was cool was the entry lights on the bottom of the outside mirrors. I didn't know that was there until they came on this evening Chen I unlock the door with the fob... Which leads me to the next thing... I guess the airbag is coming out tomorrow so I can find the door keypad code. That is the one piece of paper I didn't find!

Welcome to the site. Great looking Explorer, boy is that a nice clean one.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I have found out that it has a blown had gasket. The dealer also admitted that he overheated it driving it back from the auction whe he bought it and had to have it towed... It would have been nice to know that BEFORE I plunked the cash down on his desk!!!

Well to the forum! That's a shame that they inform you that there's issue AFTER buying it. Hopefully there is some sort of warranty that came with it!

Nope. I got the Georgia Guarantee... If it breaks, I get to keep both pieces. So now I have to find someone that can do head gaskets with the limited funds I have left.
