i odtn quite understand what you are saying, if hte switch says its on, how have you confirmed that it isnt?

the lights never turn off at all?

sorry, but doing a spinout test has nothing to do with seeing if your 4x4 works or not... i have done donuts in 2wd and in 4wd..

nope lighs wont turn off at all 4x4 high lights on always ? if i push 4x4 low nothing ?but when you spin in 4x4 shouldnt the front wheels spin also? mine dont spin ?just the back ones ? but back to the light thing if it was in 4x4 and something up front was broke shouldnt the lights go off after i push 4x4 off? gonna try the tc motor in the morning let you know what happens thanks?

ok took the tc motor off cleaned it all up put it back on and boom worked but still no 4x4 you can here it working but now put it in 4x4 low great went off roading i was in 4x4 low but front tires not spinning so now i was stuck got pulled out now i took the tc motor off again took pliers put back in 2 high because the motor wont work again so now my new question is? if the auto hubs are gone will the tc motor still engage because i can take the motor off and put 12 volt power to it and it turns no problem? and of course the 2 4x4 lights are on again right back where i started ? im stumped? help please!!!

Sounds like on top of the shift motor problems, your hubs are not locking in.

Dude I went through the same thing with a 90 sport that had the auto system. It was fords first attempt and it was garbage!! If you really want 4x4 you can rely on then convert it to a manual system. That is Warn manual hubs in front, and a manual transfer case from a junked expy. It only cost me about 200 (back in the day) and it was the best mod I ever did to that truck!!

The trickiest part is putting a hole in the floor for the manual shifter, and even that was cake. Once you do the mod you will always know that your truck is going to work in 4x4

...did you replace the little plastic piece as it says in the t/c shift motor fix??? ...and yes, auto hubs are a problem...i think snowborder has a set of warn hubs and the conversion kit for 125 bucks...killer deal...look in the parts for sale...;)

yeah, at least go with the manual hubs and fix your shift motor.

okay guys got the moter fixed it is the senser going to far if i only use 4 high im good if i go to 4 low it sticks then gotta do it manually take motor off dadada?
so now i can go in and out of 4x4 high noproblems BUT i got hub problems now so im looking through local junk dealers for manual hubs thanks a million guys could have not done it all with out the help from this sight and people > thanks again:thumbsup:

Buy NEW manual WARN hubs!!!
Cheap!!!
do NOT mess with used!:salute:

ok heres where im at now did up the tc moter works great now only to find out that only drivers side front axle turns ? so under i go again this is what i found passenger axle not broken but really stiff to turn? so my new question is? could it be the u joints or is it in the front end gears? but now that being said i just found out today that 4x4 didnt work for about 3 years ?go figure so ! if that axle wont turn when in 4x4 neither side will lock in right?or wrong?

...all it takes is one hub not to be working and you will not have 4wd...;)

so what you are saying its normal to only be able to move one axle by hand and the other one takes a pipe wrench to turn?

Did you try that with both front tires in the air?

if so, when you have both sides jacked up and spin one side does the other side spin freely in reverse?

I'm just trying to figure out the source of resistance, as it could be normal.

does anyone have pictures of in side the hubs and after you remove hubs from axles i think theres something missing?
