My son just bought a 2000 Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition 4WD 6cyl 4 liter
Trying to fix some problems due to prior owner rough on locks,latches and handles. Rear lift gate handle is disconnected somehow from the manual latch actuator mechanism so the door will not open. We can see a threaded rod attached to the latch mechanism but not connected in any way to the handle itself. We cannot tell if a part became loose and detached or the threaded rod broke. If the latch mechanism is broken, what's teh recommended repair ? Looks like the mechanism is of course riveted to the door frame.
