First Explorer and need some info!

wow.. that's really good mileage. i was going to suggest some better heads and an e-303 cam.. but personally i wouldn't go changing that combination that's working to give you way better than average mileage.

oh I know not to get a letter cam. I'll be purchasing a custom cam from Jay Allen.

Well with the TM headers and bigger catback and a tune to clean up the fuel map it should work VERY well. might even see 30mpg haha.

But my MPG will go down when I throw on bigger heads and intake. I'm looking for heads that flow at least 250cfm and with a custom cam I'm hoping for mid 14s. J-mod will help huge too with 1/4 mile times. I'm also upgrading the 4r70w with the mechnical diode and locking ring to give it more strength.

now I'm just in the market for a XP8 front bumper only and a stock rear chrome bumper.

I think 'm having a problem with my ARC suspension though, when I shut the truck off it came on 3 times within 5 minutes so I think it's leaking so I shut it off for now. might have to upgrade to after market suspension.

What colour is the sky in your world? :p:

Don't hold your breath on that either. I've been on multiple sites for years and have never seen an XP8 bumper go for sale. Seen other body parts and the rear wing for sale. HUGE $$$ though.

hmm found one on Ebay for 265 bucks

and I was joking about the 30mpg lol maybe at 64km/h lol

Really? You should scoop it up. They don't come around often.

The best I get is around 23-24 mpg in "ideal" conditions. 19-20 on prolonged drives is doable.

hmmm is anyone running 400rwhp or more through their AWD? not worried about the 4r70w, just worried about the AWD system!

I found a killer deal on a turbo setup that on a 5.0L mustang with victor jr heads and intake with 15psi made 598rwhp with stock cam

I'll be running 8psi

A mustang turbo setup will not work on an explorer, you would be much better off starting from scratch. Turdle ran a little under that with awd for a couple of years, and troll was probably running 500+ through his with no problems. And there are a couple other turbo guys making power in that range. They're really simple cases and seems to be pretty stout.

I know the mustang setup will not work but it was the turbo that made the power, I can buy the piping and intercooler for around 500 or less and then labour, just need to get the TM headers and flip em and do exhaust along with fuel pump and injectors, maf and some rockers

So regarding exhuast systems, I haven't found any dual exit catbacks for the 5.0 explorer.

I'm going to get the TM headers and then run 2 highflow cats and an H-pipe, but What is a good catback that sounds great and has dual exit and doesn't drone?

as well, I read somewhere that there is some risks running dual exit?

I wouldn't get too hung up about getting a "catback" kit per se. Pick your muffler. Get some pipes bent. You're there.

I find this thread to be the best 5.0 exhaust discussion on EF.

I've decided to go 3" pipes, with 2 3" cats (obviously) with an Hpipe and straight pipes back, no mufflers, had a similar setup on my 95GT and it sounded awesome and no drone.

But now I have to figure out what to do about my suspension. I have air ride with the limited and if I leave it on and drive for awhile it beeps and says check air ride.....I've read that it's expensive to fix and they are a pain to maintain and I really don't see a huge benfit in them, and for $220 a shock I can get some great bilsteins with a lifetime warranty for $169 or less and have a better riding vehicle.......decisions decisions lol

Also I haven't noticed a difference when the air ride is off or on, not to mention I don't feel any difference between normal ride and off road...

Ditch the air ride, lower it 2" put on some bilstein, or edelbrock shocks, the explorer express sway bars and be a happy man. There are some used sway bars for sale right now here on the forum. And if you want to go even bigger up front there is the addco? front sway bar that is 1.5" in diameter, stock is 32-34mm, and hollow in your case. Starting in 98 the front sway bars were solid.
