So I cannot help to notice the amount of "HELP 4x4 doesnt work! " threads going on right now
People your 4x4 system is designed to be USED
You need to engage the transfer case and hubs into 4hi and 4low at least a couple of times during the summer to make sure its working when you need it.
Letting it sit without using it is what causes it to FAIL
Do not WAIT until you need it to find out it doesnt work, thats the same thing as grabbing your gun when an intruder is in your home, only to find out the ammo is in the garage.......... get it?
TEST YOUR 4x4 DURING THE SPRING/SUMMER/FALL TOO!!
-Hubs need to be cleaned and lubed
-electric shift motors need to be checked, cleaned and lubed
-transfer cases need to have fluid in them, checked and replaced if needed
-Driveshafts, U joints, axles, differentials all need to be checked and serviced
-Front ends should be given a "shake down" test at least every year, especially if your Ford is old enough to start having 4x4 troubles.....
My push button 4x4 has only not worked for me one time in 300K miles.....because I keep my front end serviced, my t case filled, my hubs clean and lubed and I use my 4x4 all year around
Good luck! that is all....... Happy holidays!
