flashing 4x4 lights after gear change?

Again I say 'manual transfer case' :D Just like Joe

Retarded T-case.. Bump

So in the end the problem was corrected with the replacement of the GEM Module. Of course I got a few new relays and fresh wiring behind the dash during their diagnostics, but Easy Care picked up all but the original diagnostic fee and the deductible.

The total was over 600 due to all the labor. I paid under 300.

A manual case would have cost about the same

I did keep the old GEM as all the other circuits are operating normally. Tonight after work I think I'll go after it with the multi-meter and see if it is repairable. It would be nice to have another one that functioned nowmally in case I have future concerns related to this module as it controls several different systems.

Does anybody have a clue where I might find a schematic of the Modules circuit board?????????

dont forget, assuming you have autotrans, the shifting is electronically controlled and also from the GEM and is impacted by signals from VSS , trans shift position sensor, front/rear driveshaft speed sensors. Hall sensors coul be bad and cause iregular engagemtn issues (gear hunting) but i agree that for them to go bad right after a gearing change is alot to ask. Also the hall sensors on the TC are suposedly only telling the GEM about rotational differential between front /rear driveshafts--- absolute rear axel speed should not be involved - regearing just makes the axls go faster/slower. Unles there is a speed refernce from the ABS system speed snsors that influnec the shift control by the GEm i dont see how regearing would havean impact. However if the abs sensors also tell teh computer vehicle sped and the GEM uses this incomnjuncton with info from the TC hallsensors it might well need an offset reprograammed

The GEM was replaced over a year ago and the problem went bye bye......

However it never has been quite the same since all my changes. The Auto 4x4 feature only operates when the vehicle has been first started and has consistently maintained a speed under 25 (by my speedo :p ) It kicks off the first time you pass thirty and never comes back on. This has of course all been proven with electronics testing.

However I don't really care :D When I want the auto feature it's usually only on slippery Forest Service Roads where 4 hi is overkill, but 2 wd is a little squirly. When I need it I just shut the vehicle off and start it again  . 4 hi and 4 low work as they should (also tested by trails, mud and little electronics gadgetry.)
