1997 ford explorer sport
I have a 1997 explorer sport with the single overhead cam six cylinder engine. The overdrive light has recently started flashing at highway speeds. I feel that the overdrive is working since at 70mph the tach is reading between 2500 and 3000 rpms. It doesnt make a difference if you press the overdrive lock out button when the light is flashing and it continues to flash until the next start up even after slowing to a stop. What could cause this problem and what are some potential fixes?

I have still have the problem?

I have the flahing od light still and after having the codes read the only problem was a weak o2 sensor? That problem has been fixed and the light still flashes? All help is greatly appreciated.

Flashing OD light indicates a transmission problem. It could be something serious, so you might want to have it looked at.
