I know there are 40 billion Flowmaster threads on here, but I don't see much for the 4.0 OHV with 50 Delta's. I want the performance boost from a more free flowing exhaust with a nice rumble at idle and something more noticeable when the rpms are up. I was thinking 2.25" from the cat back with the Flowmaster 50 Delta, then probably a stainless steel tip... 2.5-3". How does the tip affect the sound? The last thing I want is a rice rocket buzz.

Anyone have this engine/exhaust combo? I'd especially like to hear sound clips... I don't think I've heard any 4.0 OHV clips on here.

Rest of the truck is stock but I'm planning to do the usual in the future: intake, tb, mas, chip.

Ive got the 50 on.. I think I have 2.5 pipe though. But im having some back-pressure problems I believe. I suppose a supercharger would fix that though. I did the flowmaster first when I started modding, and it sounded like crap till I worked on my intake. Not enough air flow I guess. But once I got my intake on, it gives a nice rumble. A little loud for my tastes, but I have the headers and full intake on, so I think my rig is a little louder than most.

I have just that. My tip is an oval resonator. Sounds great, get comments on it all the time. Prior to the Flowmaster I had a powertone. It wasn't as throaty as the flow. I am much happier now. The delta series really helps cut down on interior resonance. It really doesn't even sound that loud inside unit you go under an overpass, tunnel, or pylons then you can really hear your animal roar!!!

With 2.25" pipe it will sound nice and mellow but not loud at all. I have a delta 40 with 2.25" pipe and I dont think it is loud at all. It has a very pleasing tone and isn't high pitch at all. I did notice a slight gain in top end power but with 31's, 3.55's, and a manual tranny there was a bigger notice in bottom end loss.

Yeah I have a Flowmaster 40 series with 2.25 pipe and I like the tone. It's nice and deep but not too loud.

I forgot to mention, my flowmaster got increasing louder the more mods I did. With the headers and intake system, it get pretty loud (I think) accelerating and has a lower rumble for freeway....

50 series with 2.5 inch no cats sounds like a ricer. Make sure you get a high flow cat, thats the sound your looking for.

I've got a Flowmaster 50 Delta with 2.5" pipe on my OHV X. It sounds great. Much better than stock, yet not too annoying cruising at highway speeds.
