Hey guys, i have a couple of questions for the flowmaster exhausts'. A buddy of mine told me that if you put a new exhaust on an X it might sound too ricy, like a 4-banger civic :). I really dont want that, what i want is that Deep, Nice sound, that a V8 would have. *we also own a xlt150 f150* and i love that sound. Would this flowmaster be too much like a ricer under normal cond? I realise it gets louder as you get on the gas..... Any info is appreciated!

Thanks Justin

I haven't heard anyone say that any flowmaster sounded ricey. I've heard others complain that other brands have mixed tones. Sometimes they sound nice, other times they sound like you've got a 4" tip on it.

I use to run that exact kit. Its not ricy at all. Not even close. I now run a 30 series 2 chamber and its very loud. Its got a good V8 rumble at idle and it gets even better with RPMs.

Flowmaster exhausts are not ricey at all, if you want to hear what it sounds like click this link and scroll down about a 1/3 way down the page. Raginraj has a clip of a magnaflow exhaust(on his OHV engine) and then Draft and sk1er17 have a clip of their flowmaster(on an SOHC engine). You have the OHV engine so it might sound a bit different than on Draft/sk1er's trucks.

Not ricey.

Use the SEARCH function of the archives using "Flowmaster" as your search term and you'll find lots of testimony.

If you want a musclecar rumble than get the original 40 series custom tubed.
Any way like others have said thats a good kit and wont sound "ricey"

I have that exact setup, like Derrick C.-- definately not ricey.

I have a Flowmaster 40 dumped and it's loud but not ricey.

Have the 50 SUV series...not ricey at all. Sounds awesome I think..can hear it a bit in the cab...and from the outside it sounds mean.

Never heard someone call Flowmaster's sound ricey. I've got a dumped Super 40 and I've had many people (car enthusiasts) comment telling me it sounds like a V8.

i have a flowmaster 70 series on my x with the stock 2" pipe and no resonator. it has a nice little rumble at idle and it sings when i get on the gas. i got the 70 because it was the "quietest" one they made. i love it and i have some videos that i can e-mail anyone who wants to listen to them.

Hey Ksaldibar, Does the 94 also run the 70 series? I've got a 94 and was wondering how much noise was inside. Thanks,

nah man. the 94 is my dad's and he is completely stock. you can hear it inside because i took the resonator out butr its not that bad. i wouldnt think there'd be a difference of how it sounded on each engine because they are both 4.0s, but i could be wrong. flowmaster makes a kit for yours but its with the 50 series SUV muffler which is louder than mine. best of luck! btw, i have videos from the outside if you want to hear. just give me ur e-mail. they are about 2,4, and 6 MB each.

but look at the people saying there magnaflows sound ricey.
I havent heard anyone complaining about flowies

Not "ricey" one bit... rather "MANLY" :-)

My .02?

Flowmasters only really sound great on a chevy v8

Not neccessarily bad on other applications, just not as good.

Gotta agree here, although my 50 series sounds great on my ex, and isnt loud inside at all.
doesnt sound ricey at all, and no "drone" inside which Flows are famous for.

I have had 2 Flowmaster Force II systems on 2 Ex's. Neither sounded ricy. Just a nice low rumble. Both system came with a 50 series muffler.
