flowmasters on a 4.0?

sup fellas, i was just curious about what kind of exhaust system would sound good on a 4.0 liter explorer. i was thinking flowmaster 50 series. Does anybody have suggestions or sound files? Thanks for the help.

it depends on what sound (and how much sound) you are looking for. the 50 series is kinda quiet at idle, but loud at WOT.

the 40 series is REALLY LOUD!
just ask jimabena or mikeresin. they have the 40 non-delta. the deltas are a little quieter.

overall the flowmasters are pretty good. i haven't heard a single complaint.

i have a 4.0 with a Flowmaster 40 Deltaflow and a short tailpipe turning out just in front of the rear tire.

sounds nice, not too loud... probably sounds best at idle. it doesn't wake the neighbors up, or scare puppies and children and hasn't drawn any attention from the local black and whites.

I wouldnt say the 50 series is quiet...its deep and mellow. which is nice. It opens up pretty nice too. I have the 50 series delta... but no way to really record it... well.. not right away anyways...Im getting a laptop in about a week. I guess I can record it then.

yeh it all depends on your taste. i like mine as loud as possible. i enjoy rolling up to my house late at night setting of car alarms and pissing off neibors. but thats just me.
mine sounds straight abnoxious right now though, i blew a cat.

yup...all my neighbors hate me.... i think peoples car alarms shouldnt be as sensitive.....i have a flow 40...it is really loud...

yeh i get complaints at work becuase i set off car alarms here. someone actually filed an AR request against me asking to not let me park in the parking lot anymore. haha

i have the 40 with dual pipes. i love it. the dual pipes make it a little more mellow but it is loud and throaty. i had dual 40s but it was a mess and broke one. now that was loud. standing behidn it make your chest tremble. i had to angle the mufflers and they were sticking down too far. in my opinion i would get flowmaster before borla or gibson they jsut sound so much better.

sorry no sound files im not real sure how to get me explorer in the house. i guess i could hook up the mixer and run an extension.

give me a few days i might be able to hook you up. youve given me a project. what kind of sound file do you want? .aiff .wav .mp3?

Yeah, i got a 50 series. I like it. it's not to loud, but not quiet at all. nice muffler. A friend of mine just got a force II, which is relativley quiet compared to mine.

Okay...I just wanted to point out that I can set off alarms to... but only if I gun it. Which is good. If I pull up to a car and give it some gas... the alarm usually goes off. but just driving around it doesnt... 50 series!

im going home to try and record my tail pipes. boy this is goign to be fun explaining to the wife. she'll enjoy it though after she calls me an explorer geek.

i am an explorer geek and proud of it.

so has anybidy tried or heard the delta 50 dual in dual out? i havent heard but i bet its quiet.

im usually on here all day too. but today has been sucky so i havent kept up.

my car sets of alarms 20 feet away if idling in gear... i did it at the dog park when i was trying to find my seatbelt

haha yeh i did it on my way out on my lunch break. i started up my car and 4 cars down a car alarm kept beeping and finally went off just while i was idleing.

but man im pissed!!! i took it donw to the exhuast shop becuase i thought i had a broken cat and they put it up on the lift and said nothing was wrong with it. im embarrased to drive it around like this. it sounds like a f*ing boat! a speed boat. worse then a rice burner!
anyone wanna buy a 95 sport??

mike you may want to look at all the heat shields and see if the tubing got bent and is hitting the frame..... if you still think t is the cat, take it to another exhuast shop.
