Hey guys

got a quick question. I found some fluid on the pavment tonight while the explorer was running, i checked it out and it didnt have any scent...i thought it was just water but the AC is off...it dripped pretty quickly, any thoughts of what it might be?

thanks

Were you running your defroster? When it's on, the a/c compressor runs and can drip like the A/C.

just the heater was on, no defroster...anything else it could be?

thankks

Can you trace it back to where it's coming from?

will do tomorrow.

Check the heater control valve. Fairly common to fail, when it does coolant will leak out of the bottom when the truck is running.

thanks JL i'll check that out today...but it's weird it seems as though it's water that's coming out. can it still be the heater control valve?

btw: heater and ac both have been working perfectly.

thanks again.

Maybe windshield washer fluid from the bottom of the tank?

It's my understanding that at temps above 50F, the compresser runs no matter what to dehumidify the air. Though I'm not sure on this...

alec- the drip is coming from the driver's side approimately straight across from the end of the driver's door.

sodjer6- very intersting concept...sounds goods to me:D

Could it be brake fluid? Is the brake fluid reservoir full? The master cylinder for the brakes is right there (driver's side firewall). If perchance you have a manual transmision, the clutch master cylinder would be right there, too.
Just make sure it's not brake fluid before the brakes give out on you.

thanks shorty, think what i'll do is take it to my mechanic and see what he says, sounds like it could be a number of things, thanks for the reply.
