I will be replacing a burnt tranny soon and before I install the new one I want to flush the cooling lines and coolers(radiator and external). Is there an easy way to do this?

There is a cleaner/flush that you can buy at most auto part stores (some rebuilt trannys come with it). It comes in a can with a hose(looks like a can of fix-a-flat) that can be attched to the coooler line. Use half the can flushing one line, then swap to the other. If the tranny was really toasted, use two full cans. Once the can is drained use an air hose and force the rest of the cleaner out of the lines.

Cool, no pun intended. Thanks, Iwill look for it when I go to buy the tranny fluid tommorow.

While your flushing the lines, make sure the cooler is still good.

when we got our tranny rebuilt, the cooler was beyond plugged.. heck we put 110psi of air into it, nothing came out... it was a mess.. so we had to replace it...

I will deffinately check that. I was thinking of pulling the cooler out and submerging it in solvent anyway.

I found the cooling line flush kit. Ran me $30 at Advanced Auto. It also comes with an inline filter to use for the first 500 miles.

Kevin, To keep from making a huge mess while flushing the lines I usually take an empty 44oz. soda cup. With the lid still on, stab one of the lines in the hole for the straw and use it to catch the mess. This allows you to force the fluid/cleaner out of the lines without blowing it everywhere.
