I have noticed that I have had to add fluid to my radiator, though no hoses leak under pressure and the cap doesn't leak either. I have put some time in trying to trace the leak but have had no success untill this morning. I turn the defroster on and the windshield gets coated with "damp fog-like film" for lack of better terms. I have concluded that my heater core must be the faulty, leaky item. The only place where the anti-freeze is evident after being parked is on the shroud of the wheel well on the passenger side. I had thought possible head gasket...but no. I am sure I have a heater core that is about to go south. Has anyone had something somewhat the same? Any info will be appreciated.

That's exactly what mine did. Loss of water, foggy windshield, antifreeze smell inside truck. It was the heater core. My dad changed it while I was gone, so I can't give you any help on how to do it. He said it wasn't that big of a job.

Same thing happened to me. Fix the heater core and it should be good to go

Swwweeeeeettt!!! I appreciate the good news. I was a bit concerned I might be looking for a quick fix and having a greater problem at hand. Off to the parts shop I go. Any tips or upgrades while I am at it?

Changing the heater core was not a chore at all. It was so simple and quick I actually took the cover back off a second time to make sure I did it correctly and to re-assure myself that I did not miss anything. One hour tops. The actuall design of the cover that incorporates a drain tube through the firewall is genius. I remember having a heater core go out on me in an '88 T-Bird and anti-freeze was all over the inside floorboard.
