I just got a 2000 XLS and it doesnt have foglights in the bumper where I have seen other explorers have them. It has the area where they would go, but they are covered. Is there a way to put foglights in there without having to cut anything out? If so what kind of foglights will fit? Thanks a lot
Danny

Your either going to have to cut, or buy a bumper from an xlt, the 2 are different. one has 2 large openings with black pastic covering the entire thing(no fogs) or one with a hole cut out for fogs.w/o cutting, the xlt bumper is the only way. Putting the fogs in a pretty easy, we got the ford kit to put the "stock" ones in and it was pretty easy, except finding a place to mount the switch, and finding a couple wires that didn't match up.

we got the kit off ebay, here's the exact link:
It came with everything you need to install them! now u just need the bumper!Dead Link Removed

You do not have to buy a new bumper. I also have a '00 XLS. I also hated the look of the plastic inserts where the fogs were SUPPOSED to be. The plastic round inserts come out with 3 screws. The factory fogs from Ford will then bolt right in. I didn't have to drill any new holes or anything. I did have to buy 2 extra screws from a local hardware store. I bought some factory fogs on e-bay for $50. They were off a '00 or '01 E.B., and they fit perfectly. I have yet to purchase or build my own wiring harness though. For now, I just like the looks of them a lot better than the plastic inserts.

That's a 2002 kit, Yes, you will probably have to make modifications for this kit to work. If you buy a '98 --> '01 4-dr kit, you'll have no problems.

does anyone have any of these fogs they would be willing to sell? Let me know, thanks

wooops! i misread, i thought u had a 2002, disregard my post!

btw, '98s still had the old style rectangle fogs

No problem. When did the 4-drs go to the round ones? I thought the '98 Sports had the round fogs? I might be wrong again.....

I believe all explorers went to the round lights in 99. As far as I know, all models in 98 still had the rectangular lights.

it was '99

thats y we're all here :p
