on my 2002 mountaineer and my 2002 Mustang I never hook them up mainly because of this annoyance and right now they are both connected in the car and I just leave them that way, my mustang is because the belt doesn't really retract much anymore and i kept closing it into the door and the mountaineer I cant stand that chime and have tried this before but resets at the next start so it is just easier to leave them plugged in to prevent that chime every time i drive away
