This is very embarrassing day to be a Ford owner. We have an '11 Explorer Limited, with every option.
Only trouble is that it is BROKEN in the driveway and UNABLE TO BE FIXED for an UNDETERMINED amount of time! Must be some exotic and odd failure right?? Nope!!! - Rear brake calipers, that are fully unavailable from Ford at the moment and not available in the aftermarket yet either.
Ford is ZERO help, including a call to the mighty Customer Service line. Time "guesstimates" for when calipers MIGHT be ready range from 2 weeks to 2 months or more! WTF. So glad I bought this thing and not a properly engineered and supported vehicle. Very(!!!!) disappointed. This is not the first issue I've had with this vehicle, but the others have been fairly minor and this one is literally meaning we are without this fairly new vehicle - well done Ford. I live in a high traffic area and everyone sees this thing sitting dead in the driveway now. Nice shiny and white and BROKEN.
Let me tell you who actually helped today: A local GM dealer!! My father in-law who knows the parts manager there called and he sourced a rebuilder in Edmonton (and we're in Ontario). So, we are still paying 3 times what they are worth and still have to wait a week to get them, and somehow a GM dealer was able to help us when Ford was fully unable. Oh well - just the brakes right? Not a serious safety concern.... This is SAD.:thumbdwn:
