Ford Explorer with Mercedes engine

A propane BBQ tank's cooling effect is due to the liquid propane warming and boiling to gas due to the lower pressure (when the valve is opened).

The same thing happens when you recharge the A/C of a car -- the refill bottle contains a liquid which boils/evaporates when the trigger is pulled (the refrigerant goes from high pressure to a lower pressure environment). This cooling effect is when you know the A/C system is being recharged properly.

What about swapping a Jaguar V12 or the V10 from Chrysler? I'm sure that those engines are pretty powerful, but I don't know if they would fit. I don't know why anybody would want such a big engine with gas prices as high as they are. The highways are congested with stop, and go traffic, and full of cops waiting to give speeding tickets so you can't go too fast anyway.

Hah! I would love to have a Jag engine in my Ex. I don't even need the V-12. I'd settle for the newer supercharged V-8 from the XJR and XKR.

The only problem with this idea is that my right foot might get me into a crap load of trouble with that engine. :D:D:D

driving with no fan

Why don't you overheat if you have no fan? A radiator by itself doesn't dissipate enough heat unless it has a fan.

My wife and I were driving from Warner Robins to Athens Georgia in our 1987 4 cylinder gas Volvo to attend our daughter's graduation ceremony. A driver pulled out in front of us on a city bypass. I couldn't avoid the vehicle and our front hit their side just aft of the rear door. The other vehicle was knocked away and spun around 180 degrees and had to be towed off. Our Volvo grille and front lights were demolished. The hood was crumpled and blocked the radiator fan from turning but the engine kept running. Since there were no coolant leaks we drove another hour (avoiding traffic lights where possible) and attended our daughter's ceremony. Since the engine never overheated, after the ceremony we drove 2 1/2 hours home and it still didn't overheat even though it was a warm day in May.
