I was reading a few posts on dealing with faded black plastic, from heat guns to Black Wow. A lot of people raved about Black Wow, but at $25 for 4 oz, the Forever Black looked like something worth trying and quite a bit cheaper per ounce. It would also appear to last longer since it's a dye.....but forum opinions mean a lot more to me than marketing promises. Anyone have feedback good or bad?

Forever Black works well. My friend did it to his Jeep Wrangler fender flares about 8 months ago. Went on kinda thin but after 3 or 4 coats looks very nice.

ya forever block is amazing stuff. used it a few times on my 94 xlt and never had to again. touched up stuff and looks great.

Interesting...I have been looking for something beside armor all:rolleyes: for the trim on my volvo

I'd like to see some pictures of actual applications of the product and not the possible doctored photos from the manufacturers web site.

I have the gray trim on my EX and I'd like it to be black but don't know if it will be cheaper to have it painted or buy enough Forever Black to redo the bumpers and trim.

What about krylon fusion? I have used that on my ex last summer and so far so good...plus other members here swear by it.

I believe I used the Krylon Fusion on the inner portion of my grill. Although it doesn't really have the chance to get dinged or scratched it still lloks pretty good.

I swear by this product (Forever Black). The name truly represents the product! I have used this on all my cars and a standard bottle goes a LONG way. Any metal or non-slick plastic part this was made for. It will make any part look like the day the part was new! I mainly use this for plastic fenders, the windshield wipers (metal parts) and the plastic between the hood and the windshield. Also, used on plastic door handles.

If I took pictures of my vehicles I used this product on, you would not be able to tell - the painted parts simply look brand new, instead of the normal faded-greyish look. I've only had to reapply on one vehicle (on the plastic that the windshield wipers sit on) and that was after roughly 4 years of keeping the car outside the garage in the elements. This stuff is something no one with any plastic or faded black metal should go without!

What do you guys think about using forever black to change the color of the plastic trim from a lighter color to black?

Anyone?

Yes, but only if the trim is a non-slick surface. If you are using Forever Black over a shiny plastic piece, it will not look right. If it is dull in nature, and has a smooth or rough surface, Forever Black will change the piece to a perfect, brand-new looking black piece.

I was thinking about changing the color of the plastic front bumper and trim that goes over the fenders and around the sides. I think I'll give it a shot. Thanks! :salute:

How'd it turn out?

Haven't tried it yet. I have to order the stuff, unless someone knows if it's sold at local auto parts stores. After I do it I'll post some before and after picks. :salute:

i looked at a couple local stores and all I can find is Mothers back to black. that stuff works well....til it rains.

Being in S. Louisiana--wait thats redundant--I need something a lot better.

everyone seems to like the forever black and i have some on order from amazon. 10 bucks plus 6 shipping.

If Im not happy with it Ill just have to break down and paint the affected areas--trim, bumpers, etc.

Black is such a color that add to the beauty of any vehicle and especially the cars. Yes, the rain does proves as a problem but it can be solved by cleaning off the dirt everytime. I would only opt for black e it any car, it's just mesmerizing to have a look at a black car. I would like to echo your words "Forever Black".

So, white is your favorite color? ;)

Same here, if the Forever Black doesn't work then I'll paint it. :salute:

Forever Black

Hey Rhondo:
How did your using Forever Black work on changing the color of your trim? I want to change gray to black on my 05 Explorer bumper and fender trim so seeking options.

louski, I never did the Forever Black treatment. I decided to go with Bondo Restore Black after checking out this thread: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=292760&highlight=restore+black

I bought it along with some foam paintbrushes but never applied it as I has other pressing matters to attend to. Now that winter is here, I'll be doing it in the spring. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
