Hey guys,

I just changed my ATF for the first time. I am now running Amsoil and used Aldive's method for flushing the system. Only I forgot to put the magnet back in after cleaning the pan. I really dont wanna drop the pan again, what should I do?

hang on to the magnet until your next pan drop. No biggie.

Thanks Glacier, i'm much less stressed out now,

I was wondering if I buy a high-power magnet and stick it onto the outside of the pan, will it do any good?

might be an interesting experiment. let us know if you do it. meanwhile yer fine.

Don't know if you have remote setup for tranny, but you can put magnets on the outside of the spin on. But i would just get some super strong magnets and stick them to the outside of the pan.

I plan on adding an aux filter on my next tranny change. I think i'm going to find some strong magnets and give it a shot with the outside of the pan. I'll let you guys know how it works out next time i drop the pan.

It's done on motor scooter fuel tanks, so definitely worth a shot.

Fuel tanks? Why would there be metallic debris in a fuel tank? Especially a small 2 gallon one. I guess if it dosen't have a fuel filter then it helps.

sure it will work, I have seen magnets on the outside of oil pans in racing, trans pans too.

They have a tendency to rust on the inside. I have an old motor scooter and had to chemically clean and treat the inside of the tank.

I'm going to find one that I can stick in my oil and remote tranny filter. That way you can check on it each time you change engine oil and filter without dropping pan.

They make magnetic collars just for oil filters :)

Go to a car audio store and get like an old factory take out speaker and use its magnet. They'll be happy to give it to you since they throw them away anyways.

or in most cases out in the garage and grab your old OEM speaker that has been sitting in the box/shelf for 7 years anyways :)
