Found a guy with a 93 Explorer 4-door 2WD, 4.0L, auto, loaded. Body is decent, not great, interior the same. Runs. He's asking $750, but I think I can talk him down. All I really want is the 8.8" rear , wheels, and a few odds/ends for my V8 Ranger project. Is it worth it, or can I get the 8.8" rear by itself cheaper?
I know the 2WD Ex's are uncommon here in the great white north. The truck is definately fixable, but I'm not interested in customizing an Explorer (too heavy to race). Maybe I'll pass the info to someone who wants a 2WD?

are you looking for a deal

If your looking for a deal, no, this is not a great deal. Down here in the dessert it would be fair, but where you live, thats an old truck, its not worth much. I bought a 91 ex 4 by 4 in good shape with new tires and such for 800$ Completly rust free. Keep looking, you will find something, it just takes time. Go over with 400$ and make an offer, always be prepare to walk away

If you're looking for the 8.8, look for a 95+ if you want disk breaks. Some even came stock with 4.10 gears.

If you're gonna drive it daily, yes...otherwise, no. I'd go with Kert. Actually, I think it was '96+ that was standard with disc brakes. Don't forget to weld the axle tubes!

I got my 93 eddie bauer 2wd for $300 near binghamton, NY. only needed a drivers side rear 1/4 window and that was it.. there's deals out there, just keep an eye out.

The 95s had rear discs.

like everyone says just keep a eye out bc deals pop out of no were and you should go in there with a couple hundred dollars cash and just put it all on the table and im sure youd get urself the deal
