It's not an Explorer, but they will fit. My 2006 has the 17" wheel option, and has a pretty new set of tires. But my work rig sits in Deadhorse, AK and is a 2009 Ford Expedition, also with 17" wheels. We recently wore out the tires on it (after only 5,000 miles! Gotta love oil patch North Slope gravel roads) and had them replaced with Yokohama Geolander A/T-S 265/70 R 17's. These things are the bees knees!
They handle gravel, heavy corduroying, ice, mixed ice and snow (it was snowing today, and blowing 35kts across the tundra earlier causing drifting snow on frozen gravel and mud) and everything else the North Slope that thrown at them. So far they haven't let me down once!
