Found this plug under passenger carpet

So I found this plug under front passenger carpet and I cannot seem to find where it came from. Any ideas????

Did you pull the carpet all the way back and out to have a look? Looks like a floor or firewall plug

I did. Pulled all the way to under front passenger seat, and I really couldn’t see behind glove box/dash. Thanks for your help.

I tried checking the part number, at least as much as I could see and came up with nothing.

Yea me too which was very odd. Might have to call dealer on Monday and see what they say it is. Will keep everyone posted. And any help in the meantime is great.

Strange. RH plug found under the passenger side carpet? Pull up the driver side carpet and see if anything similar is there?

I will give that a try. Just bizarre can’t find this part # online. Frustrating

Well, the passenger side is the RH side after all. If it's been there for 6 years, it can't have a very important function. Perhaps it was something that was accidentally (or not) dropped during its run down the production line.

^ Oops, yet another senior moment. Very simple RH & LH are designated as you are sitting in the vehicle. Why I always say driver or passenger vs. right or left but still didn't get it correct. LOL

Either way, wonder if the OP found anything similar under the driver side carpet. Hope so, I lose sleep over these kinds of things. Yes, I'm OCD ; )

Wonder if it's an production line debris plug for the wiring loom between the door and the chassis? Seems like a similar size.

I did look at that. But nothing missing. It will be a mystery until dealer calls back.

I think it might be the plug for the footwell drain. Mine are black. You can look under the car where front passenger's feet go, for a hole that allows water to drain out.

Thought so too. Mine are black as well. No other holes on the floor.

Yes it does.

I'd be willing to bet it was a paint shop plug that wasn't intended to stay in the car after assembly. Whatever it came from it's a part of the car that is the same as a Taurus (CG13 is a Taurus part # prefix). Final assembly plugs wouldn't have all that paint on them as they're put in last (otherwise there's bare metal underneath).
