free/cheap, best bang for the buck mods??

i am a new owner to a 99 EB awd 5.0
it has 150k and runs real good
i is all stock and in pretty good shape,
i have not had a 5.0 since the early 90's in a 93 mustang
i dont know the differences are, but i am looking for some good "worth it" mods

Airbox mod with a drop-in K&N filter. If you have running boards...ditch those.

i would like to assume that it is just hacking out one side of the box, (side away from the engine to avoid heat??

Throttle cable mod works well if you've got a lot of slack in your cable. Couple of zip-ties will do the trick. Made my truck feel like a brand new vehicle.

yeah, if your truck needs it, the throttle cable mod is pretty good. I guess my truck didn't need it since I started out with one zip tie and it was doing 2500 rpm at idle.

I just checked the throttle cable yesterday and it was nice and tight and at WOT the TB blade was fully open

I suggest doing the airbox mod, but not doing the drop-in filter. I just used the filter I had and saved the money I would have put into it and put it towards this:

Well I just did a cold air intake on my 05 V6, even with the paper filter, I get a lot more response, and better gas mileage.
Check out my registry page (see signature) to see the cold-air intake. I built it from an autozone kit , and it cost me about $49 total.

No one believes me when I say go ALL Synthetic in all of your lube fluids. Trans, tc, diffs, oil. I use Royal Purple. They did a dyno test on Horsepower TV, did first run with all the original lube. They then switched everything over to Royal Purple stuff and gained like 10 HP's just doing those fluids.

I run 10w30. I have always ran the 10w30 in my 5.0. Its not on warranty anymore, so, what the heck. 5 quarts for the 5.0 and the 4.0 I think. The rear dif is 75w/145 for the LS rear end. You can put Royal Purple Tranny fluid in Transfer case. Same thing in Tranny.

build your own intake out of spectre piping
remove the roof racks
make clear corners out of stock corners (search for it, I turned my stock clear by taking out the orange reflector)
cut out the resonator and replace with pipe
