Hey everyone, I was washing my explorer the other day and I noticed there was a little door on the front bumper that houses a 3 prong electrical plugin, does anybody know what it's for? I'm thinking maybe a drop cord to heat up the motor block in the winter but thats just a guess, thanks!

Seems like a logical guess. Where exactly is it located on the front bumper? I've been over just about every square inch of the lower trim on my '03 and have not noticed a door anywhere. I'd be willing to bet it's for an engine block heater.

It's under the grill between the fog lamps on the bumper, it's got a little latch on it, it's pretty visible once you know it's there, but yeah I think it's for a block heater.

That is for the block heater. Living in the cold of MN I will put it on a timer and run it for about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs.

It's a muffler bearing charger rare only on select models
