I might be missing something here, but are you asking for the frame member that goes under the engine? The one that the steering rack bolts to?

Hey Justin!

Speedy reply! Cheers bro! It links the front left and right body mounts as seen in my rusted through picture below 👇

It would sit on view V at the very front in this picture

Ah, ok.

That looks like the drivers side front body mount, just ahead of the wheel well.

It seems like the "cross member" part you are talking about is something on the body of the truck, not the frame. It would be around the part that is circled in this photo.

Looking at another photo, you can see that is part of the front section of the frame directly ahead of the radiator.

In total you have 10 body mounts. If only one is bad you are probably fine.

Otherwise you would be looking at cutting and replacing an entire section of the body. I would take a drill with a stack of bits, a grinder, and a torch to a junkyard.

Thank you Justin,

Yes I think the ‘part’ you circled is correct. Both ends are rotten through where they connect to the body mounts themselves. I think I’ll need to grind the section out and get a new section plasma cut. I will dismantle the front tomorrow and update you. Thank you very much for your help.

This is the other side

Cool pictures btw

Would this be the correct section Justin?

I dont think so. I think you will be looking for more or less the entire front section. I never really looked in too much detail, so I would pull of the lights and plastic and see what you find.

Unless somebody else can offer advice

That body piece is the radiator support, which is part of the entire body shell. You should be able to find it, new possibly, but it will have to be carefully cut and pieced into the existing front clip. I don't know if there are seams and spot welds along the front corners to let you easily cut the spot welds and R&R the front section.

Here's my 99 front end after just painting it.

That header panel is a fragile fiberglass, good idea to think of it if the front end has to come apart. I need one for my last 98, someone rolled into me and it cracked the right headlight and the header panel too. I need to make time to do something about that soon.

Oh snap, I didn’t realize it was fiberglass.

There is a fiberglass part that holds all of the plastic parts on top.

That fiberglass part mounts to the metal part we have been talking about and that has been shown in photos above

I think he might be mentioning how it's a huge pain in the ass to get off and it might be worth ordering another one if you can spare the expense.

Either way the part you are looking for is not fiberglass.

Yeah, apparently the header panel is fiberglass. l thought both the header panel and core support were steel.

I hope there are decent parts sources where he lives too. If he has to get it from the US, he might want to decide which he has to have, and which are not so important. Getting a used body part is trouble if it's in a salvage yard, where you have to spend the time there to remove it.
