Front differential fluid leaking

Has anyone replaced the gasket on the front differential? I have a minor leak and want to replace the gasket myself. I have changed a rear gasket on a 79 Cutlass, but not on the front of an explorer.

Any suggestions will be great!

Try searching for "pinion seal"... That's what's usually leaking in the front. Rather common problem, and has been discussed quite a bit.

what it probably is, is the gears splashing fluid out the vent tube. There's probably a kit available from ford to take care of it. supposed to be a less than 2 hour job for their mechanics i think...
