Hello ya'll! Apparently, I'm new here. I'll introduce myself. I'm Stashi, I'm from a teeny town in southern Illinois. Happily married mother of three daughters, I change oil & tires for a living. I love riding my gsxr & LOVE driving my 2000 Explorer Limited.

I've tried searching the forums for an answer to my question about my truck with no avail. I've read quite a few of the stickies & have come to the conclusion that I am one of the rare who have had massive issues with the front dif on my truck. (that or I'm not doing too well figuring out how to properly maneuver this site) Hopefully I'm not posting this in the wrong place, if so, please correct me.

But, here's my question; As I said, I have a 00 Limited, 5.0 AWD 187,000miles all that good stuff. I've replaced the front dif 3 times. When I bought the truck the dif was DRY, I filled her up and she chunked the gears into a million little pieces. Replaced it, pinion bearing went bad with in 200 miles x2 (I think I bought bad parts both of those times). As of now, the third dif *seems* to be in good working order, no leakage, no grinding and what not.

BUT, a couple weeks ago, I started noticing a roar, similar to the roar of the front dif going out, but more localized to the drivers side instead of a middle front end roar. I was driving home from work and the roar kept getting worse, then BAM crunch boom. Yay! I haven't pulled her apart yet, I'm *hoping* that it's the drivers cv, I figure driving it as much as it has been on bad difs & not replacing the cv's could cause some massive damage to the splines. I do know the ball joints need replaced, I put her on the lift at work & I can see uppers & lowers jerking & popping, not horrendous, but not good either. The splines seemed fine last time I changed the dif, but who knows. Has anyone else had this issue or had experience with an issue similar to this? Also, does it sound like the cv to ya'll? Like I said, I haven't pulled her apart yet, was planning on it this afternoon but all three kids have the flu. Lucky me! ha

Well, I have sufficiently rambled, I hope to be moderately active around here. I really do love my truck & want to learn more about it & better ways to fix her up. :D

Hope everyones having a great day! The weather here is gorgeous today!!:burnout:

welcome stashi

G'day Stashi. I hate that sound, BAM crunch boom. Might be the bearings? Anyway, welcome.
