The vent line from my front differential recently fell down onto the road. I zip tied it back up onto the chassis well above the top of the diff but it now blows fluid out like mad. A dealership service technician said it was probably getting hot causing the fluid to blow out, possibly by the front diff being locked. I had an independant mechanic look at it and he is totally baffled. The drive shaft from the transfer case turns when it is out of 4wd but the front wheels don't turn. Is that drive shaft supposed to turn all the time? Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Welcome to the site!!! If I remember correctly, there is a Technical Service Bulletin out on that issue. Check http://www.alldata.com to see if your truck is listed.

Thanks for the welcome as well as the info JDraper. I checked on the Alldata site and sure enough there is a service bulletin for this problem. I haven't read the bulletin yet but I'm sure it's going to be worth the money to get the information. My mechanic is going to be very pleased.

:D
