2000 explorer limited
hey everybody. im the new guy. doug. i have a 2000 explorer limited, started making a metal on metal squeak last week, but only after driving about 10 miles or so, and only turning right at slow speeds, and coming out of the turn, until i reach about 30-40 mph. i checked the entire front end myself, couldnt find anything out of the ordinary. took it to a local mechanic shop, they had it 7 days, went over the whole thing, said it was all good. 3 mechanics drove it, and never heard a sound. picked it up today, drove 6 miles, turned into a driveway, and the noise returned. does one of you fine people have an answer?

From your reported symptom, I'm thinking a dry ball joint. Are the upper & lower ball joint boots intact? The OE BJ boots usually rot away.

BTW, I think it's ridiculous your shop kept the car for a week to inspect a front end (which shouldn't have taken them more than 20 mins) and then found nothing. My guess is they never even looked at it or drove it.

if it only does it while driving i would say wheel bearing or cv. does it do it when turning the steering wheel. I had a windstar that squealed like crazy when the tie rods got dry.
